No, I don’t drink.

These four simple words confuse and confound many people whom have met me.

I’m a rather large lad, I’m a rather …. vulgar  at time as in I will tell people whats on my mind or why I was late whatever the reason, but I don’t drink. No one can figure it out, they think I “pound the brewskis” at the weekend while watching “football”, I don’t.

I’ve never seen the attraction of the drink. I’ve never even been properly drunk, damn close but not full on as I tend to get drunk from the legs up or become violent. So when I hit 18 I just stopped, couldn’t be arsed with the price of beer or the stigma that when with it. I just never saw the attraction of a night where it’s measured by how little you can remember or how many things you’ve nicked have show up at your place. Or worse you wake up in the middle of nowhere like a few of my mates have done back many moons ago.

I just can see NO benefit to it.  You become loud, irritating, vomit alot and spend all you cash. Why? Just why do it. It’s no benefit to you, your body, your wallet or people around you. Much rather see people get stoned, at lest if someone stoned all they want is a large packet of chips. Yes there are the problems of paranoia but drinking leads to worse things their just shorter term or you turn your liver to crap.

But hey, what do I know, these thoughts just pop into my head now and then.

I know the feeling. I’ve been tee-total for 15 years now, and when you tell someone that for the first time you do get a strange look, like something just landed on your shoulder from outer space.

Still, each to their own I guess. (8+)

Good for you Adam, I hate to think how much money and life I’ve wasted on booze but it is such a part of my lifestyle now it is hard to stop.

Counldn’t agree more with what you’ve said there I can see absolutely no upsides to drinking, I’ve been tee-total for about a year, and I don’t think I’ll ever drink again.
Like Mark says I do get some funny looks, especially at my age, when people ‘expect’ you to drink.

I cut right down on alcohol a few years back so I know the feeling - almost as annoying are the people who think you’re wierd when “a drink” means 1-2 before you return to Coke (which is costing them less in a round, so they should be grateful!)
