I like a good TV series, but I’m not one to keep up with series is my problem. Lost, Heroes anything really popular really. This rule has been broken in one area, Rooster Teeth.
For those of you who don’t know Rooster Teeth (Hey Combatus & Henry. Hows the kids?) is a bunch of chaps who do a few different web based series the most noted being Red Vs. Blue made via Halo.
Rooster Teeth decided to never pass 100 eps with RvsB (Red Vs Blue) for some reason so the seires was axed a while ago to give way for 1-800-MAGIC a series made via the Shadow Run game which no one bought.
Currently the Rooster Teeth team have (seemingly) done bugger all in any area of series at all. Got to think that this is also an income for the Rooster Teeth people so why are they doing bugger all? Unless their shifting a stupid amount of RvsB stuff.
A comparison, another machinima (videos made via game engines) company is Lit Fuse who seem to be belting out decent really long length stuff recently with parody of the classic film Dr Stranglove and other random shorts. All good and mostly funny when it’s meant to be. Now the Lit Fuse lot do it for fun where as Rooster Teeth seem to go for money as they can cash in.
So why is it that Rooster Teeth are doing bugger all? They have a series to be getting on with but nothing shown up about it in a while all they seem to be doing is comics. They even have two dedicated people for that so what are the rest of them doing?
I just want them to get off their asses so I can watch something decent. Or I can keep watching Civil Protection.
Haven’t got any kids Adam, you must mean Combatus
Using a PC analogy, you could ask why the maker of that Concerned comic didn’t make any more Half-Life 2 strips, even though there were two more episodes he could now mine for comedy. Ultimately he was quite open about the comic not being his day job and not paying the mortgage and that’s why he did his bit, then finished it.
You know what? Let ‘em have their money if they can, it’s their tax reconciliation problem not yours, and if they end something to keep it at its peak, it’s one less strip/cartoon you’re getting bored of reading/watching. In terms of Halo they had maybe one more game to mine for comedic content anyway (unless it was nothing to do with the game unlike Concerned, which parodied everything about HL2 but nothing else).
Love might keep the quality high when it comes to something creative, but that doesn’t pay the bills.
