Hl2:Ep 2. You unfair git.

I love the Orange Box, it got some great stuff in it.

Portal, Team Fortress 2, ….. other stuff. I’ve been churning through HL2:Ep2 as I want to know what happen with the resistance, the bit … portal thingy and all of that.

But I’ve found a major fly in the ointment of the game.

Hunters.

Their like small striders that fire exploding bullets at you can and take several shot gun shots to the face. They are right up there in with the Final Fantasy bosses in the “thats just unfair” ranking. Their fast, hard to kill and the one gun that can kill them in one shot takes far too long to fire and hunters don’t tend to stand still while you take aim.

I mean, if there was anything even close to the amount of damage they could take. Just another enemy that seemed just SLIGHTLY weaker then I could forgive them. But they do not exist in the HL2:ep2 game. The enemy you have are thus gubs, combine troops, zombies, headcrabs, ant lions, ant lion spitty acid thing then a MASSIVE gap Hunters and Striders. And the striders you can kill in one shot.

Look at this scientific chart.

You can see how the difficulty SPIKES in a massive ball busting way. Now (the icing on my “I hate hunter’s cake”) is that I’m trying to cheap my ass off killing these things. I cheat offline (not online, that just makes you an ass) I have no shame in this but I cannot cheap my ass round these hunters. I try to noclip to kill just the strider and the bomb can’t keep up. I try turning off the target but that doesn’t work. Gun cheats, god cheats, kill all cheats. NOTHING! They can’t be stopped.

Their evil evil evil things and should have been made softer for me and my crappy game skills.

Moan moan moan blah blah blah.

The final battle with the hunters and striders broke my balls for a couple of hours til I realised there is a weapon that kills the hunters in one hit. The car. When each strider appeared I got in the car and mowed the little suckers escorting it down like dogs. It was still tough, you need to be going reasonable fast and it’s easy to get the car stuck, but at least it is doable.

“I realised there is a weapon that kills the hunters in one hit. The car.”

Mine started getting smart to that. I started off running the buggers over (then smashing into the strider) then shooting the strider. Then they got smart to me and started jumping out the way.

Damn them.

That part of Ep2’s structured to have a cliffhanger ending, I must have reloaded from a save between each strider nearly 50 times. Doing the GTA on some striders is a help, the rest can eat your rockets that you’d normally use on striders - they’re a lot harder to dodge.

There’s only another couple of scenes after that so hammer away at it…and I hope you remembered the gnome!

Okay, first of all, you all deserve to be shot. The hunters are hard but you have to think outside the box. Why the hell do you think there was a broken bone award? USE THE BLOODY GRAVITY GUN!!!!!!! Two hits with a heavy object kills them, dear god, how obvious can you make it? And the car, just hit the handbrake and slide into them, ahhhhhh!!!
Any way, shame on you all (and what kind of guy makes a graph anyways?).

Edited for grammar.

“and what kind of guy makes a graph anyways?”

Errm….me. Have you not read the previous posts? they explain my actions and my ability to suck so hard at a game that I can implode my own head.

We haven’t said WHY you need to kill hunters and striders.

Hi all,

I think the hunters an an excellent invention, theyre fast, quite hard to kill and can move indoors, meaning you have to be crafty. It also makes the battles with them more sustained, its not the normal “ive got a shotgun so theres no way im gonna get hit” routine.

Hunters are EASY to kill! Don’t waste explosives on them.

1 or 2 shots to the face with the Magnum kills them instantly for me. Also the alternate fire from the Plasma Rifle (the energy ball) kills them in 1 hit.

secondry fire on plasma is defo the best
