Yeah, it’s still technical Tuesday. I’ve been ill. I should really see a doctor at some point but mines such a git to see why bother. Then again I do seem to be loosing more blood that seems “normal” so might have to try again.

Oh well.

Right, anime.

Not allot this week due to ill and laziness.

Oooow: Kaibutsu Oujo

“After receiving his sister’s letter of invitation, Hiyomi Hiro goes to the house indicated on the map, but finds it abandoned. Its gate is locked and the windows are boarded up. He has no choice but to go back to town on foot. There, he finds a cart loaded with a pile of furniture.

The person pulling the cart is a strange looking little girl in a maid costume, and at the top of the furniture pile, there sits a beautiful girl with long hair in a black one-piece dress. The cart is stuck in a ditch and will not move.

Then, an iron pillar of a building under construction falls. Hiro protects the girl but is crushed under the pillar. He is sent to a hospital, but there is nothing they can do for him and he passes away.

Suddenly, the girl appears in front of his body in the mortuary. She then says these strange words to Hiro: “This is a good body.”

The girl stands and holds her index finger up over his body. Then, fireballs gather around her finger. They drop onto the white cloth covering his face, and a heat haze appears around his body…”

Another odd one, I like odd. Only seen one ep so far and really it’s … interesting. I think the 1st ep of any series need to grab you a little and this dose it with it’s giant wolf men, robot girls, vampires and multiples deaths of one guy.

Really, I can’t say much having only seen one ep of the series so far but I think I’m going to like it. Has some good action, it’s not ANOTHER ecchi comedy harem thing and it’s got some good action (something I’ve been lacking since “Black Lagoon”). More news and a better review when I see more, then I can tell you if it’s crap or not.

Good!: Planetes

“The story of Planetes follows the crew of the DS-12 “Toy Box” of the Space Debris Section, a unit of Technora Corporation. Debris Section’s purpose is to prevent the damage or destruction of satellites, space stations and spacecraft from collision with debris in Earth’s and the Moon’s orbits. They use a number of methods to dispose of the debris (mainly by burning it via atmospheric re-entry or through salvage), accomplished through the use of EVA suits.

The episodes sometimes revolve around debris collection itself, but more often the concept of collecting “trash” in space is merely a storytelling method for building character development. The members of the Debris Section are looked down upon as the lowest members of the company and they must work hard to prove their worth to others and accomplish their dreams.”

I saw this show many moons ago … I bloody LOVED it. Really, it’s a damn good bit of anime that no single human should be without. The basics of the show are “bin men, in space” which sounds crap and you fully expect everyone to fly around in space suits being super cool. It isn’t. It makes the whole idea of space more believable. Not everyone is a chisel jawed space man, their all just people and act so. Rather that full cool figure hugging space suit they wear big baggy suits that only the gloves and helmets they own as the suits are expensive. It’s as how you expect space to be in 20-50years, mundane.

It’s just a really well done bit of work. It also looks bloody lovely. The director (Goro Taniguchi) wanted to bankrupt the animation company with this show and it really shows. It also has a brilliant story, it goes from a nice little ride then drops into the depths of despair as Hachimaki (another main character) slowly slips away from the crew and everyone else as his ambitions slowly destroy him.

Really, just go find it, sit down and watch. It’s awesome.

WTF? Non-anime: The Venture Bros

The Venture Bros. is an American animated television series airing as part of Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. It chronicles the adventures of two dopey teenage boys, Hank and Dean Venture; their super-scientist father, Dr. Thaddeus “Rusty” Venture; and the family bodyguard, secret agent Brock Samson

~Wiki~

Right, non anime recommendation, why? Because it’s my blog and I really like this show. Remember all those crappy shows you used to watch in the morning (Scooby Doo, Johnny Quest and the like)? Well Venture Bro’s is a parody of 90% and it doses it well. It has silly over the top villains who have their own league. Stupid inventions and the two main characters (Dean    & Hank) really don’t feature too much but you don’t really care as their both idiots (like proper kids in Saturday morning cartoons). Really, again just go find an episode. You’ll giggle like an idiot or just find the sort of violence Brock Samson can do is shocking.

Right, that’s all for this week. Come back next week when I might really make a proper post of some sort.
