137 Miles Week

The few of you who know me, know I own a very small, very old car named El Odio. El Odio is a 1964 Hornet with a small and somewhat smelly 998cc engine which has happily carried me to where I needed to be with no problems or complains.

I have the feeling this will soon change.

After a fair old time of getting fecked around by various houses of learning I finally got into a BSC in Business Computing at Norwich City College. Problem with NCC is that it is right around 22.8miles from my home and apart from on Monday has little to no parking. This has now lead me to start driving the 22.8miles three times a week in my little 44 year old car taking me to and from college and beyond when the parking is non-existent (or down a back road when I only need 2 to 4 hours).

Now that I have to put 100miles plus onto the speedo a week, I’ve started thinking about (horror of horrors) a modern car to replace my El Odio. I was on eBay and saw some Fiat Chinqechenchiomahothingy.

Weird thing though, out of the three of us who own cars in my little group of friends my El Odio is second in list of problems. Andy (nice guy, a bit too cock sure for me) has an Audi TT turbo which is currently costing him £3000 for a new head gasket. Biggest problem El Odio has been wheel bearings, grand cost £70.

This whole thing has put new found faith in my little El Odio. She’s old, rust and the interior is a bit crap but still it gets me to where I need to be (all be it at 50mph to save petrol and what have you).

So, old cars. You can drive them to the ends of the earth with no problems. That is until El Gordo is complete, then I’m changing back. God damn loved that car.

Well, tomorrow I’ll do a Spore post or something.

And you don’t have to worry about tax and insurance. Must be cheap, ask you’re mate how much his Audi costs to insure. So it’s well worth it. My mate had an old Morris 1000cc and you could drift that all day around a roundabout. Ahhh, good times.
