137 Miles Week

Big_Adam

Posted in Motors on September 25, 2008 at 10:58 pm

The few of you who know me, know I own a very small, very old car named El Odio. El Odio is a 1964 Hornet with a small and somewhat smelly 998cc engine which has happily carried me to where I needed to be with no problems or complains.

I have the feeling this will soon change.

After a fair old time of getting fecked around by various houses of learning I finally got into a BSC in Business Computing at Norwich City College. Problem with NCC is that it is right around 22.8miles from my home and apart from on Monday has little to no parking. This has now lead me to start driving the 22.8miles three times a week in my little 44 year old car taking me to and from college and beyond when the parking is non-existent (or down a back road when I only need 2 to 4 hours).

Now that I have to put 100miles plus onto the speedo a week, I’ve started thinking about (horror of horrors) a modern car to replace my El Odio. I was on eBay and saw some Fiat Chinqechenchiomahothingy.

Weird thing though, out of the three of us who own cars in my little group of friends my El Odio is second in list of problems. Andy (nice guy, a bit too cock sure for me) has an Audi TT turbo which is currently costing him £3000 for a new head gasket. Biggest problem El Odio has been wheel bearings, grand cost £70.

This whole thing has put new found faith in my little El Odio. She’s old, rust and the interior is a bit crap but still it gets me to where I need to be (all be it at 50mph to save petrol and what have you).

So, old cars. You can drive them to the ends of the earth with no problems. That is until El Gordo is complete, then I’m changing back. God damn loved that car.

Well, tomorrow I’ll do a Spore post or something.

Kitt - Oh no, WHY!

Big_Adam

Posted in Tv, Motors on July 27, 2008 at 9:52 am

Right, I’m going to just post these here to show that the persons doing the “new” Knight Rider must have NO DAMN CLUE what the original series was like.Let start with KITT. Well, he/it is a Mustang. A shape shifting Mustang. A shape shifting Mustang that sounds like a berk.

That is Kitt in SUPER Pursuit mode … err yeah. Looks crappy.

Not convinced, well people over at jalopnik.com have a video to FURTHER convince how bad this series will be, unless they really (and I mean REALLY) fix it.

>>LINKY<<

So, there you have it. Another series ruined.

Oh Brucie. Stop with the bullshark testosterone. It’s not good for you.

You shouldn’t be selling your cars for it either.

Note : If you don’t know who Brucie is then play some damn GTA:IV. You’ll know him when you meet him.

I freekin’ hate modern engines.

I’ve had a hell of a long day.

I’m not used to doing “stuff”, I’m lazy I admit it. I can’t help it, I have sloth genes or something. For the entire of today I’ve been working on my mother Astra which broke (my bad!).

I got the gaskets I needed. I got the tools I needed. I got all the bits I needed. Put the whole lot together. Torques the head (incidently, who ever designed the system in which Astra heads are torques down should be shot. Crap on a crutch thats hard to do. You do the bolts to 22 newton meters. Then turn each bolt 60degree more, then 60 more, then 60 more. Damn it’s difficult. You keep thinking either the bolts or the spanner is going to give any monument. Stupid things). Then finally got round to starting it.

wrrrrrrrrrrr, wrrrrrrr.

Oh, horray. It won’t start. Connected all, plug in the right order and nothing. Just a spinning engine.

I hate modern cars. I hate them so much.

Figured it to be one of a few things. Either the cam timing is off or (my choice now) magical pixes decided to mess with the engine while I wasn’t looking.

So at the end of my day, I have archived…..basically nothing. Now I’m going to watch Paprika but I can’t, as my pc has found it limit of HD-DVD footage.

Should have stayed in bed.

UPDATE!

I’M A MORON!

After all the hassle turned out then cam was out 180 degrees. Damn engines, why can’t they be more simple…..and run off air and pixes dust.
