Well my Nintendo DS Lite hinge broke, mainly due to the use it had got, so I figured I wasn’t paying £50 or so to replace it (that being the average cost) so I would get the bits I needed and do it myself.

The main offender: (makes a realy nasty sound closing initially)

So off to www.dealextreme.com I went, ordered a replacement shell ($20ish) and the tri wing screwdriver set (the unit was well out of warranty already anyway but this will void your warranty)
Seeing as the old casing was white, the new one was black I decided to go for a mix & match, almost like the NUFC football strip (Brown ale optional)
So I popped the case open
Replacing the first time failed, I snapped the ribbon connecting the top screen to the mainboard, so www.dealextreme.com again to buy a replacement one.
This meant I had to solder on the speakers, quick 3 minute job, piece of cake really.
Then the 2nd attempt pretty much worked, however from the pics you can see I snapped the little plastic bit connected to the power switch, no biggy, £4 off ebay to replace it, little bit more soldering aswell though.
