A new episode of the CPC podcast is finally here, complete with discussion of new graphics cards, Windows 7, and Age of Conan

CPC Podcast

'It kicks it into a cocked hat. And then burns the hat' - Phil

Find out what Phil's talking about by downloading or listening to our latest podcast, because we're back with an extra special hour long edition of our audio show. Editor Alex is joined by Phil and new recruit Orestis to look at what's been happening in the tech world. First up is the brewing Autumn graphics card war, as both Nvidia and ATI have new GPUs ready to launch. The panel also takes a look at Windows 7 and its use of touch screen technology. The key question is whether this sneak preview of the next version of Windows means Vista's time is already over; Phil thinks that might be the case but offers an intriguing opinion as to what Vista's best feature is.

The top 10 games chart comes under scrutiny as per usual, with new releases Assassin's Creed and Age of Conan being the main points of discussion. We've also got an interview with the Director of Conan (who compares it to a bloody steak and a fine wine), and Clive is on talking about the upcoming Computex trade show.

Battlechests

Those figures were from the original He-Man series of figures, and were called Battle Armor. You can find a few on Ebay. Generals...didn't feel like C&C. I liked C&C3 and Kane's Wrath, especially the risk style. Assassins Creed, best thing, free running. Worst thing. Ending, and genetic nonsense.

Higher Resolutions

@andrew_girdler That will be a big concern for me when I choose my new graphics upgrade. I hate running my 24 inch screen in anything less than its native resolution of 1980x1200, but then my slightly weedy graphics card has a hissy fit. Plug in a 1280x1024 monitor and it would be fine.

EPIC PODCAST (really great)

Personally i will be shelling out for a 260/280 GTX when they come out. I currently have an 8800 GTS 320 and it strugles playing some games at good quality settings or with many filters applied. (at 1680*1050 which i may point out you guys recomended it for :P) But yeah will be nice to have a comfortable amount of power. I wont be using DX 10 though. Still havent moved to vista and in light of the fact that windows 7 is on its way i will ignore the advice of the windows vista lady and hold off. well, depends how long it takes
