Even longer
The EeePC has a battery life of between three and five hours, depending on which model you pick. This might be enough for some, but for extended periods of use such as transatlantic flights and train journeys from London to Edinburgh, it’s a little low.
Most laptops can be easily upgraded with a higher-capacity battery pack although these add to the computer’s overall weight. The EeePC is limited by its physical dimensions, which are far from standard. Adding high-capacity batteries will make it less light and portable, compromising on one of its best features. A better way to save power in a future EeePC might come from using components that need less of it, rather than simply increasing the size of the battery. Switiching to Intel’s Atom CPU (which supposedly only draws 2.5W) might be a good start. Another useful addition could be an OLED display, which doesn’t need a power-hungry backlight.
