With 250GB platters, the Barracuda 7200.11 should be a seriously quick drive, and in most respects it is. The high areal density is backed up by its HD Tach 3 RW throughput scores being near the top of the pack, and its fast 12.6ms access time. This commendable performance helped the Barracuda 7200.11 to secure equal fourth place in the Gimp image editing test, and equal sixth when loading the Relic level in Crysis.
Like all the other 750GB drives, the Barracuda 7200.11 is decent value too. Its price tag of £110 works out at 16p per GB, so it's one of the most economical drives this month overall, and on a par with lower-capacity drives. However, with both Samsung and Western Digital offering 750GB drives for less money, the Barracuda 7200.11's performance, although decent, isn't enough to single it out from this selection of great drives.
