Verdict: Basic, but solidly built and comfortable
The distinctly PlayStation-esque dark blue plastic shell of the Dual Action Gamepad is lightweight in your hands, but the buttons all feel solid enough to withstand years of gaming punishment.
Two rubberised analog joysticks, which also act as push buttons, fall within easy reach of your thumbs and you can comfortably use the four trigger buttons on the top of the gamepad with your first two fingers.
The drivers include a testing window that visually and audibly lets you know whether each control is working. Rather impressively, we didn't need to calibrate the gamepad before playing any games. The bundled profiler applet searches your hard disk and lets you allocate each button to the desired function for any recognised games.
While playing Need For Speed: Underground, the analog controls were very responsive and the pad felt very comfortable, even after several races. But at this price, it seems expensive when you consider that the Saitek P2500 is practically the same price and also has force feedback.
