Verdict: The most powerful PSU in the world

If there's kudos attached to being the fastest car or aircraft in the world then surely the most powerful PSU also deserves some attention.

At 850W, this Turbo-Cool is certainly powerful. In fact, it even looks powerful, thanks to its 230mm-long chassis, which is substantially larger than the 140mm required by the ATX spec. Despite the huge casing, it's cooled by just a single temperature-controlled 80mm, which gets very noisy.

The quoted spec lists the 3.3V and 5V rails at 30A, and there are four 17A 12V rails. Connectors are provided for 20- , 24-pin and 8-pin EPS12V motherboards. There are also eight Molex, one FDD, six S-ATA and two PCI-E connectors. Like the Turbo-Cool 510, it's Nvidia SLI certified.

The Turbo-Cool passed all the voltage stability tests and, rather surprisingly, proved to be very efficient, averaging 78 per cent at full load. This means it drew 1,038W from the mains to produce 811W. If you really need 850W of power then this Turbo-Cool is your only real option. However, it's noisy and incredibly expensive.
