DDR2 RAM
Without high-frequency ram you won't be able to overclock your intel core2 or socket AM2 athlon 64 CPU far. As this labs test shows, you don't need to spend a fortune on DDR2 RA to achieve great results.

Verdict: Cheap and very overclockable; what more could you possibly ask for?
A-Data has been producing high-performance memory for several years, but up until now, it has been pretty difficult to get a hold of its products in the UK.
The A-Data Vitesta DDR2 1000+ is the company's flagship DDR2 kit and, as the name suggests, is guaranteed to work at up 1GHz. However, its latency timings of 5 - 5 - 5 - 15 aren't very impressive, and it requires 2.2V to operate. Like all of the PC2-8000 kits, we had to test the Vitesta DDR2 1000+ at 889MHz in our Core 2 system, and 800MHz in our Athlon 64 system, due to the limited memory speed options available in the BIOS with the test CPUs at their stock frequencies.
The Vitesta DDR2 1000+ was a mixed performer in our Core 2 test system, but it delivered good performance in our Athlon 64 system. However, what really makes the Vitesta DDR2 1000+ special is the degree by which it can be overclocked. By increasing its voltage to 2.45V, it's possible to overclock this kit to 1.18GHz at its standard latency timings. This is an incredibly high frequency, and would allow the DIMMs to provide your system with an enormous amount of memory bandwidth.
While the standard performance of the Vitesta DDR2 1000+ is merely reasonably good, it's incredibly overclockable. Better still, it's cheap, undercutting most of its rivals by as much as £75, making it incredible value for money too.
