Crysis demo available next month

Posted at: 5:32am 28th August 2007 by Ben Hardwidge

Have a play with the Nanosuit in the tropics before the game comes out

EA plans to momentarily appease the Crysis fever that’s gripping PC gamers by releasing a single-player demo of the game next month.

The demo will be released on 25 September, and will feature the full first level of the single-player campaign, which will include the famous Nanosuit, as well as ‘stunning visuals.’ However, we don’t yet know whether the demo will run in both DirectX 9 and 10 modes.

EA also promises that the demo is ‘poised to include a huge surprise from Crytek,’ but is content to tease us for the moment, saying ‘but for now you’ll just have to wait.’ Any idea what the surprise might be? Let us know your thoughts.

finster, dont whine when your pc doesnt play modern games. Its like buying a ps1 with a 24" LCD and expecting to play ps3 games on it. You should of spent your cash on duo core 2 and a dx9-10 card instead of wasting your cash on a monitor.

Large Monitors Bad Idea

To run latest games and demos... heres a tip... stick with a 17" or 19" monitor, and then using a mid range card, can be better than you think..... a 7600GT ran stalker on my machine on medium settings (and a couple of higher) using a 19" viewsonic...... which is suprising! Just got rid of it today though and set out for a 320mb GIGABYTE 8800GTS... which is suprisingly very quick, got a couple of free games, such as dawn of war dark crusade (even though i have already got it but hey) The person who posted about a radeon 9700.... your way behind your time... you need some sort of 80 pound Ati x1950xt, (from scan for example) so u can get some gaming done.... tht 24" monitor is to blame for poor graphic abilities too... pushing the radeon to beyond its scope

Theres your problem...

finster, a 4 year old system aint' gonne be near powerful to drive such a large monitor for modern games. I dont know if you got a deal on it or something, but your money would have been better spent on some PC components. Anywho, im really hoping this is a DX9 demo aswell as im quite eager to see how it runs after Bioshock surprised me.

BioShock is Shader Model 3 only, so anything in the Radeon line-up before an X1xx-series (ie X800 and below) won\\\'t run it. And only GeForce 6-series and above have SM3. I\\\'d be surprised if Crysis ran on your system either. Maybe check out p34 of issue 49?

Bring it out on the 360

Good to hear we can play a demo of it. The bioshock demo didn't play on my system as it is 4 -5 years old now. So lets hope this will or i'll have to buy a new computer if it doesn't come out on the 360. amd 3000+ (overclocked) radeon 9700 (overclocked) 2 x 120 gb hard drives. 24" widescreen monitor 1920x1200. logitech mx revolution mouse. creative audigy 2 sound card.
