We wonder what brand of PSU, memory and heatsinks will be featured in the PCs
OCZ appears to be on a mission to take over as much of the PC enthusiast market as possible. The company has already purchased PC Power & Cooling and announced a 1.2KW PSU this year, and now it’s also bought US PC manufacturer, Hypersonic.
As well as producing workstations and laptops, Hypersonic also produces gaming systems that have won a lot of prestige in the American press. These Cyclone OCX (AMD) and Sonic Boom OCX (Intel) PCs offer a guaranteed overclock that’s covered by warranty, as well as a ‘maintenance-free’ liquid cooling system.
Hypersonic’s founder, Fred Cohen, is pleased about the purchase and said that the company’s strategy ‘has always been to employ bleeding-edge technology and innovative design backed by the highest level of customer support. The fusion of OCZ’s groundbreaking memory and power technologies will catapult Hypersonic to a position of leadership in the performance computing arena.’
It’s fair to say that most of us in the UK won’t have heard of Hypersonic, but OCZ plans to change that with its worldwide distribution, saying that ‘under the OCZ Technology Group, Hypersonic systems will gain the exposure of the established OCZ global channel, maximising the availability of the reputable line to enthusiasts worldwide.’
Could this mean we’ll be seeing OCZ PCs in the UK soon? OCZ certainly acted quickly to make sure its name was attached to PC Power & Cooling PSUs after the purchase, so it’s entirely possible.
