Benchtec - From the ashes of Extreme Prometeia

New UK forum set up by the Extreme Prometeia crowd, and they’re intent on breaking benchmark records

One of Bazx's cascade coolers in the making

There’s been a big hole in the heart of UK extreme overclockers since the Extreme Prometeia forums disappeared, which is why a group of determined forumites from the fallout have decided to branch out on their own and form a whole new forum for hardcore UK benchers.

Set up by Bazx, who was featured in our Extreme Overclocking feature, and helped out by Sacha35 and ThickBrit, Benchtec’s mission statement is to bring ‘together UK-based members of several other teams. We exist to provide a one-stop site to showcase the best talent in the UK’s performance-computer-hardware scene.’

Sacha35, whose real name is Paul Watkinson, told Custom PC that the site is ‘truly for the hardcore bencher,’ and claims that the guys there are already achieving decent results. ‘Even though we are just getting into our second week,’ says Watkinson, ‘we are now ranked 17th in the world in the HWbot, rankings which I think you’ll agree is very good.’

However, there’s always room for more, and Watkinson says that ‘anyone who is a hardcore bencher wanting to join us is more than welcome.’ If you want to break some benchmark records for the UK, and if you want to exchange tips on overclocking and all kinds of extreme cooling, including cascades, then head on over to Benctec and show your face. The guys even have a liquid nitrogen overclocking event in Surrey planned for just after Christmas, which should be great fun if you want to see how many megahertz you can really squeeze out of a CPU.

There's RSS feeds all over the place

See the little orange radar pulse at the end of your browser's address bar? That should give you the news one (http://www.custompc.co.uk/rss/news), or there's RSS feed graphics next to Latest News, Latest Features etc...

Bah

Why are there no RSS feeds on this site? It's pretty bad for a tech site!
